Do They Whiten Your Teeth After Braces?
19/09/2022
Whether you have had a 6 month treatment time or 24 months, when it’s time to remove your braces for good it feels like a momentous occasion! You can now smile proudly and your bite is perfectly aligned, any issues you once had with the functionality of your teeth are gone for good.
You may find that once your braces are removed that there is slight discoloration and staining from where your toothbrush couldn’t properly be manoeuvred with your brace on. As your teeth have been realigned, surface area of your teeth that weren’t previously visible may now be prominent – highlighting areas of discoloration further.
Many orthodontics offer teeth whitening post-treatment to give you that bright white finishing touch. As your teeth may shift slightly and are more sensitive after you have completed your treatment, it is recommended you wait 6 months before whitening your teeth at the dentist. Depending on the clinic, your teeth whitening will be done by an orthodontist in your dental clinic or you will be provided with an at-home kit to do yourself.
