Dental veneers can transform the shape and colour of your front teeth, giving you a beautiful smile.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are custom-made, micro-thin shells made of porcelain or composite resin that are permanently bonded to the surface of your teeth.

Veneers can help improve the shape and colour of your front teeth by covering discolouration. Dental veneer treatment can also be used to reduce gaps between your teeth. Dental veneers are a fast, effective and potentially long-lasting cosmetic treatment for a radiant smile.

Are veneers right for me?

Veneers are a versatile cosmetic treatment to improve the appearance of your teeth and transform your smile. Depending on your individual requirements, veneers can be used to:

  • Cover staining or discolouration
  • Reduce gaps between teeth
  • Repair minor chips or cracking
  • Regularise uneven teeth

When you come to the practice for your cosmetic dental consultation, your dentist will advise you if veneers are the most appropriate treatment option for your teeth.

What is the treatment for dental veneers?

To prepare your teeth for your new veneers, your dentist will begin by regularising the enamel of the teeth to be treated. The front surface is lightly etched for optimal results. This procedure does not normally require anaesthesia.

Your dentist will then take impressions of your teeth. Our specialist dental laboratory will create your bespoke veneers, matching their colour and brightness to your natural teeth as closely as possible.

During your return appointment, we check the fit, shape and appearance of the veneers on your teeth. When any adjustments have been made, the veneers will then be bonded to the front of each tooth with a special dental adhesive. The adhesive sets in a short time, after which your veneers will then be polished, giving you a beautiful new smile.

How long do veneers last?

With care, dental veneers can generally last up to 10 years or more. Like natural teeth, dental veneers can chip or break. Minor damage can often be repaired, or the veneer can be replaced in required. Your dentist will advise you on how to look after your veneers following your treatment.
